4 heads in a row? I would buy a different amp. That would leave such a sour taste in my mouth after the second one, never mind the 4th! You have some serious patients man.

I was watching eddie showing off his new amp on comcast's music channel, pretty cool shows new gear and lessons on the channel. Anyways eddie said they put the amp in a room witha guitar pluged in and turn it on full blast and leave it like that for like a month of feedbacking and he says this amp will just not blow up! yeah didn't say anything about catching fire lol!

Sitting in a room for a month doing nothing but feedback is not a good QA test.

Run that SOB for a month solid while channel switching and making adjustments to settings. Turn it off once a day and bang it around like it's being loaded and unloaded from a van then go back to testing. Maybe spill the occasional beer on it and subject it to 90 plus degree stage temps and fill the room with cigarette smoke while your at it.
That would be a real test.

EVH is a known liar anyway. Doesnt Carvin build their stuff so well that you can throw it and it still work? Maybe thats the PA power amps I am talking about. I dunno.

Maybe they should offer a free fire extinguisher with every new purchase

Heck- my pawn-shop special Fender Princeton Reverb II amp (designed by Paul Riviera when he contracted for them) is a tank when it comes to the durability. I've put that thing through all sorts of mayhem over the years, even a five-foot drop off of the back of my pick-up truck. The covering is wrecked, and there are cracks in the cabinet, but everything else works like a charm.

I'd still be playing it right now if I didn't get my other pawn-shop special... a 50-watt Line-6 Spider. And I got THAT simply because it was dirt cheap.

Carvin makes some GOOD stuff, too.

For that kind of money, the amp should be reliable!

Hell my Peavey Valveking 100w Head (Which I paid $995AU for...they are usually $1000-1200 here) must be more reliable than the 5150III. I haven't had any problems with the VK so far.

One day I shall get my Deam Amp.. A Peavey 5150 or 6505

does this mean the EVH 5150 III's are like the man himself capable of melting down at any moment....

I hate to plant the seed of insecurity, but I think you just got lucky...

I know nothing about electrics/electronics, but I think the problems with the footswitch are because of the loop. If I don't use the effects loop, I'm guaranteed a trouble free night with the EVH.

I wonder how many unit were sold versus how many had to have warranty work. Hows yours doing now Sean?
