  • Mesa Boogie...Mark V ---> Mark IV now out of production

It happened. The Mk IV is now listed in their 'out of production' models list.

The Mk V is supposedly coming guys! John Petrucci played over the prototype, supposedly, and he reported that he liked it a lot.

Though some people have said that they heard the Road King was to replace the Mark IV.....

    Thoughts and speculations please!

I remember reading an article with Randall Smith a few years ago where he said he would most likely be doing a Mark V. Very cool it's finally coming out!

Nah, too far apart in what they are. Apples to oranges. Both fantastic amps though.

Yeah, the Road King always felt like a Quadruple Rectifier to me. Amazing tones in there though.

I wish the new one would be Lonestar/Stiletto/Mark III combination

Can't wait to check it out, but I doubt that I would get rid of my Mark IV Satellite setup.

You just described part of the Road King II. It does pretty much everything.

So, will this make Mark IV prices go up or down?

I think the used prices will go down. There's a CRAPLOAD of Mk IV's out there. I'd say the prices are gonna bottom out at around $1000 - $1200.

It doesn't have the tone of MKIII Coliseum 300

Well, in all honesty, that has more to do with the enormity of the power section and tranfos in those Coliseums. Something you pretty much can't find in ANY other amp.

yeah, that's why I hope they make the new one with lots of balls and agression of 300 while featuring all the other stuff too
