  • Looking for a multi effects unit...

I'm looking for something on the cheap that can give me some "thick" guitar tones, kind of in a Phil Collen sort of way.

Really not looking to break the bank as I have plenty invested in individual pedals as it is. Something cheap that can give me a distortion chorus delay etc all at once but with at least decent sound quality..

    Thanks in advance.

I seem to be in the minority here with this, but I like my Digitech RP-250
I also had a Digitech RP-150 that I gave to a forum bro once my brother gifted me the 250.
The only diff is a few more presets and a built in pedal for the wah type stuff.
    I like it.
It's easy to program, and sounds great through my PC (my PC has a subwoofer, so it helps with the bottom end).
Recording into windows and sending MP3 files is simple.
OK, well... everyone else is gonna say they sound like shit.
    LOL

oh, and they cost about a buck (100 for the RP150, 150 for the PR250) cheap enough I figure

Look for a used GNX-1. They're pretty cheap (price wise).
It's capable of getting Phil's "tone".

a used GT6 should be going cheap due to the 8 and 10 being out.

I bought a Behringer V-amp pro in an SKB case with the matching pedalboard for $250 off'n the ebay. I can't play for crap, but I can make a lot of cool noises. I was disappointed it didn't have a pitch shifter like the RP-6 my buddy used to have. We liked to hook a mic into it and make devil noises. lol

Supposedly you can translate line6 POD stuff and use it with the Behringer, but I haven't tried it.

Boss GX-700 if you can find one. I paid £75 for one on ebay.co.uk.

Same thing as a GNX1 tone wise, just more options.
The entire GNX line is capable of the same tones, you just get more features with the higher models.

Zoom G2.1u. Sounds good and is small. If you don't mind rack, a used Rocktron Intellifex or Xpression.

There is a Yamaha unit that is supposed to sound good and be cheap/small. I think it's called DG Stomp or maybe Magic Stomp?

IIRC someone on the forum had one and got some pretty good sounds with it.

                              GSP21 or GNX-2???
