  • Wireless sell-off

So, about to shell out some serious wonga on some radio mics now, but got a bit of a wobble on about the UK's proposed sell-off of the wireless frequencies we currently use. Now, the sell-off has been delayed till 2012 (till after the fucking Olympics, then we can all go and fuck, apparently), so my investment would be at the end of it's worklife then anyway, but only just. I'll buy anyway, it's a business cost.

So, who hasn't written to their MP to tell him/her they are a cunt for considering doing this to sell to the greedy mobile phone companies? DO IT!!!

And you Yanks aren't immune either. When is your sell-off? Soon, I believe.

    Hmmm, that's most interesting, thanks.

Well, can't wait for people to start belly-aching in a couple of years when their wireless does a Spinal Tap and some cunt cuts through their guitar amp mid-show. Fuck it, throw them away, they're only cheap anyway aren't they? Buy some decent cables.

      Damn.
You would think that with digital technology, they could do more with the freqs they already have, instead of hogging more.
      Fuckers.

This is already happening in the United States. Bunch of stuff won't be working right supposedly in the next year or so.

Unless your wireless gear pickups up analog TV signals, there should be no problems...

CR- My understanding is that's not the case. Some info from Shure-

Yep, that's the kind of phrase I'm worried about : "should be no problems". I have no problems right now, but once Nokia & co get their greedy mitts on the frequencies, I foresee lots of issues which "are impossible" (but which are possible enough to fuck shows right up). I suspect it means that in 5 years my current stock will be absolutely worthless and replacing it will be extortionate.
