I like a lot of mids, too, but even in my old F-30 combo, I thought the sound was still a little too middy. I preferred the contour control engaged so it scooped the mids in the V shape like their old Mark series with the 5-band eq, but that still had some midrange chunk to it. I did get the best results when I also used an extension cab with a G12T75 in it.

I like STRONG mids, but I don't like HONK. Blecchhh... I like both modes on the F-series, but tend to play the non-contour gain channel. I think I'm EQ'd something like this:
treb - 10:00
mid - 2:00
bass: 10:00
I'm usually an "everything at 2:00" guy (like Joe Perry ), but it gets a little too undefined that way...

I'm sure an EL-84 amp isn't going to make "bad mid" any better... Looks like the Orange might be looking for a new home.
