Does it require a moderator to open a new thread in this forum? I tried to start a new thread about something, and was surprised that I couldn't do it.

Yes, it's because of photos, and it's happening to everybody. It's the new spam filter that was put in when the board was upgraded not too long ago. I don't know if Jeremy can fix it or not, but I did approve your thread so you should be able to see it now.
