I got a Mesa Boogie 4x12 Half Back slant top cabinet today and the sound from the cabinet is really huge. I have it sitting on top of a H&K cabinet which puts the slant speakers at ear level. The cabinet originally had Black Shadow/EVM speakers, but the EVM's were swapped out for V30's on the bottom.
The first chord that I played using a Les Paul thru a V3 was monstrous. It seems like the sound was coming from everywhere, and when you moved, the sound engulfed you and changed dimensionally. I guess with the open top back, the sound comes from the speakers as well as out the back. The cabinet is about 12" from a wall, so all that sound bounces off the wall and back to you.
The sound is really phenomenal - I think I may have to start looking for more of these cabinets - ymmv.
