Anyone here actually own the Randall Modular amps / RM4??
I am itching for a new preamp and currently use a ADA-MP1 3TM /BB3/ Mesa 2:90 based rig. I am looking for flexibility midi control and most of all tone. How would the RM4 stack up to say a triaxis? I absolutely love my ADA but want to try something a bit more modern. My other preamp is a chameleon black face. I think its time I get a rig that is not stuck in the 80's

    any thoughts???

I have an RM100 and it's a great amp. Great flexibility with lots of interchangable modules and full midi control, but it is not the same as a Tri-axis or ADA. You can use midi to change channels and that's about it. You can't "save settings" as with an ADA/tri-axis/jmp-1/etc...

But, for what it, it's a really great sounding amp.

        Are these all Rm4s?
See thats my deal with them I am a fan of the tight hotroded ,marshall sound (george lynch kiss of death etc) as well as love the modern Ubershall tone and want a hendrixy little wing type clean. Hard for me to get all three these three clips all sound all little bit loose and big on the low end (kind of like what my blackface Chameleon does well) but again Im listening to this on my mac and not on a quality stereo of it. Frankly I think the tone on your clips (the Van Halen ones) are more my speed . I also might be joining a modern rock act which will give me total culture shock since I came up in the 80's so I need versatility as well as tone. I fear if I dump my ada mp1 rig for the JMP1 I will not get much of a difference. I have both the Mesa 2:90 and a Carvin T100 so I have a power amp with both 6l6 and el34 I still prefer the 2:90 even though my prefernces in tone usually dictate otherwise. Alot of the clips of the RM4 on the web sound fantastic I am just not sure if I will like it once I own it.
Does all of this make any sence??

Or maybe now that ADA appears to be back in business I should just hold off and see what the ADA MP3 is all about...

Very interesting. It will be interesting to see what they come up with for the new MP3. Hopefully they will get it off the ground. My guess is it will be a long wait however.

Thanks for the info, I'll definitely be watching this unfold. I had an MP2 for years but eventually sold it off. There wasn't as many mods for it as the MP1 so I grew tired of it. It had one of the most amazing cleans ever!
Hopefully this MP3 is available as a rack mount considering the rack market isnt as good as it used to be.
The MP1's and 2's MSRP'd for around $1000 iirc. I wonder what the 3 will cost?

I have an RM100 and totally love it. It is funny because I always played solid state before and never had any complaints. Now that I have played through my Randall, I don't enjoy playing solid state amps anymore. They just seem flat, lifeless. Is that just me?

I don't think that you will find another tube amp that offers the versatility of the MTS series. It is just plain brilliant.

Yeah, I really dig their tone. They're using the same exact Marshall rig I have ..JMP-1, 9200, and JFX-1.

Both guitarist are from Jorn Lande's camp. Jorn Viggo Lofstad, also od Pagans Mind runs the JMP-1 into a 5150 half stack..as you can see in the first clip. Carnivora is Tore Moren, Jorn's other guitarist..He's been a dedicated JMP-1/Marshall rack user since '96..like me. The ADA MP-1is cool for 80's metal..well, so many players recorded so much amazing things with them back in the day. The JMP-1 is a bit hotter and it does sound like an authentic Marshall..which I was always a fan of. It's like Marshall's version of the ADA. My other amp is an Uberschall with 6 matching tung sol 12ax7s..it's a very "heavy" amp with alot of body and low end. But when I play the Uber and Marshall together at the same volume levels..the Marshalls walks all over it..but you can feel the uber like a bass amp in the mix. The Marshall has much less gain than the Uber..but it has just enough for me to cover anything from classic Van Halen/Savatage to Eidolon/Death/..even conveys Nevermore and Arch Enemy pretty well because that's how I play these days. It doesn't require a gain boost and it the best preamp I've heard for Zakk Wyled like squeals, which is a huge part of my style. The Uber doesn't cooperate well when it comes to that stuff. I got caught up in the big low end epidemic. I discovered too much low end just makes things boomy. That's bass guitar territory. What is essential to me is a great tone that is responsive with midrange cut and edge for palm muting that could compete with the loudest of drummers.

Rob as far as a vid..yeah, I guess that would be cool so I could say hello to you fuckers..but I certainly wouldn't be in my tighty whities, ya sick bastid..but I'd wear a speed and a cape!!
