Some of my favorite guitar sounds come from these albums (In no particular order) :

Suffocation - Effigy of the Forgotten

    Massacre - From Beyond

    Napalm Death - Harmony Corruption

    Cannibal Corpse - The Bleeding

    Entombed - Left Hand Path

Dismember - Like an Everflowing stream

    Death - Leprosy/Spiritual Healing

And for the crunch sound...Metallica's Kill 'em All does it for me

Dying Fetus also has a pretty badass tone.

If they only made Vh-140c heads again
z***********I heard "The Bleeding" the other day on Sirius...and
it made my nuts move! Good stuff..

This is my favorite Marcel vid... bluesy shred.
Where did you meet him? Does he come to the states once in awhile?

I've never met him personally but I've traded emails with him a few times and he's very responsive and accomodating to his fans.
You can tell from the tone of his emails that he is just a cool guy (some poeple over on the 7 string forum that live over there have met him and they all say he is very nice too).

this is another album that I love the sound of
some Petrucci 7 string thru his Road Kings
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

a bit of a toss up for me.
Opeth: anything recorded inbetween MAYH -> ghost reveries.

Metallica: (even though i dont really listen to them anymore), ...and justice for all is i think my ultimate tone ever.

Lots of good tones out there. Personally of all the players and songs I seem to consistently like Michael Schenkers tone particularly on Save Yourself.

Save Yourself is probably hands down my favorite of all.

Lamb of God's guitar sound on Ashes of the Wake particularly intrigued me. A great combination of great players, SD pickups, mark iv's and a great engineer with real ears.

I like a deep, dark, heavy tone. But as many get this confused with mega distortion, I refer to a not so saturated tone. With most amps (and amp sim ware) I usually find this with the drive approx. at half to a little more that half of its potential. Once you start going up higher, the tone starts to get mudded and washed out. The deep, dark, and heavy comes from the eq., not the distortion. Think similar to Deep Purple with just a bit more drive.
