i heard cross patterning sets of speakers can give a fuller sound to a cab, but when doin this how do you wire them. i mean if i wanna use my cab in mono operation (4ohms with 16ohm speakers)do i go from input jack to top left then bottom right then top right to bottom left or does the sequence i run it even matter? thanks.

download the mesa rectifier manual. any of the models. near the end it has a whole section on speaker wiring that is vary informative.
series adds the values together while parrallel cuts them in half.
most marshall 4x12's are wired series parrallel. which is simply 2 parallel wired 2x12's load.connected together in series. this means you can have 16ohm speakers that run 16ohms for all 4 but 8ohms each when split in stereo.

thanks for the info. i know about series/parallel, ohms and all that. i was just wondering if theres a certain way to wire speakers when using say 2 v30's and 2 gt12's in a cross pattern.
edit- i'm using 4 16ohm speakers that will be wired parallel to give me a 4 ohm cabinet, but should i go to v30 to v30 to gt to gt or v30 to gt to v30 to gt.Last edited by jdr94; 11-11-2008, 04:14 PM.

I have an older rectifier cab with Governers and Man O War Speakers by Eminence loaded in it and it is a really great sounding cab. It took a little getting used to but now I really dig it. i have it wired in an x pattern. 16 Ohm Speakers. I can go 8 ohms a side or together as 16. If you need me to open the back up and take a pic lmk.
