  • I guess the economy sucks...

I walked into my local Music Go round last night, and if I were a Marshall guy, I would've messed myself for sure. Here's what we had:

    TSL60 Combo
    JCM 900 212 Combo
JCM 800 212 Combo (horizontal inputs)
    DSL 100 head
    TSL 60 Head

The combos were MINTY - especially the 800. I wanted to buy it SO BAD...but I'd never be able to really use it as it was 100 watts, and you have to OPEN IT UP to make it sing. This thing was SPOTLESS. Same with the JCM 900. They were all priced in the $700 range.

I wish I had some money and some space...I would have had quite a setup. People are selling off some pretty nice gear these days. The guys at MGR are saying that they are seeing more high end stuff going at lower prices. I haven't been watching eBay, but as that is the official "price book" for used gear, I guess things must be getting a little cheaper there too...

I think what you are observing is true. I've seen a lot of high stuff including vintage guitars being unloaded lately locally and on eBay. Instead of a sellers market, it's becoming a buyers market. I recently bought several Fender Blackface vintage amps for a fraction of the cost from what they were this past summer. I was looking for a Les Paul Recording several months ago, nothing, then in these past 2 weeks there was a flood of them on eBay. Crazy
Tone is like Art: Your opinion is valid. Listen, learn, have fun, draw your own conclusions.

I think the Live.com cashback thing is also promoting sales on ebay. I know it has contributed to my recent purchases, in any event.

I do too. I have sold more on Ebay in the last month than I have in the last 5 years. I've never had such success....I'm actually even making a little bit of money on some of my stuff. Maybe I have the right gear at the right time, maybe my buyers are using Live.com.....I don't know....all I know is that I'm thankful to be moving some stuff.

The one silver lining in the current economic disaster is that the few
players who have any money will be able to pick off all the Boys'
Toys they can carry. Think about it, what kind of day jobs do most
musicians have? Pretty lousy ones, and those will be the first jobs
to be cut. And it won't just be guitars an amps. The next couple
years will be a great time to buy motorcycles, snowmobiles, electronics,
and on and on as people shed expensive toys just to make ends meet.
I know it's bottom-feeding, but I bet a lot of folks on this list will be
                engaging in it...

I've seen some great prices on amps on EBay lately.
I scored my mark III for a grat price and I just scored a minty 6505+ head for a really great price.
Someone listed a mint Mesa Roadster head last week for a BIN of $1,400.00.
If I had the cash I would've been all over that.
this will be great time for people who can afford to buy (I wish I was one of them)
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?
