Ever since I sold my JSX I've been missing the old "Peavey" metal tone so
I figured I'd try a 6505+ (since I've already had a 5150 and a JSX) so I put
out some feelers and started watching and waiting and last week I really
scored a great price on this one (very minty condition).
So far I really like it, I've got ruby C's in for the 6l6's and tungsol/JJ's in
the preamps. I was kind of looking for something that would fall in
between my old 5150 and my JSX tone wise and this pretty much nails it.
It's a bit smoother nd tighter thatn my old 5150 and it's a bit snarlier and fuller than my JSX.
I'm going to throw my trusty MXR 10 EQ into the loop tomorrow and crank it up a bit and try to really dial it in to my liking.
Having a hotplate really helps to let me open this pig up a bit in the house
Now my Mark III has a playmate to hang out with.
