I'll add in what I've experienced
I've got a mark III, my friend just scored a Mark IVA combo and brought it by over the weekend.,
#1 do not get a combo, get a head if at all possible.
the difference between running the IV thru that 200 watt Electro Voice and my 2X12 Recto Vab was night and day. It sounded waaaaaay better thru the recto cab and the combo weighs a fucking ton.
#2. the Mark III and Mark IV sound great at low volumes (the Yngwie clip I did under MP3 submission is with the master on 2 and the channel volume on 1.
the Mark IV lets you come down to Tweed in Class A in triode which is I think 15 watts. It sounds great at speaking volume
I don't know the $$$ value of the Dragon but if you like to tinker and dial in
a pretty wide range of usable tones, you'll really dig the mark IV.
I persoanaly am waiting to See what the V is like before I make a move on
any other amps, but I'd like a IV or a V to go along with my III.
The Mark series amps don't sound like Rectos though. but with a clean boost in front and an EQ in the loop you can get pretty convincingly close (just tighter sounding). I do it with my III all the time.
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

The Mark IV is the greatest amp made to date, IMHO
