Amp Regrets...

I regret selling my first Marshall, a (black and gold) Jubilee 2x12" combo. It was actually just a chassis I bought from Angela Instruments back in '93...I bought one Celestion too and they threw in a second one and a Marshall cabinet...all for about $250.

I had to leave it behind when I left college for emergency back surgery, and never went back to that college. I ended up selling it for about $400 back then, but I wish I still had it. It was way better than the Slash head I bought later.

I regret letting go of the first head I ever bought. A Stramp something-or-other (Marshall clone from what I understand). I gave it to a friend. I think he replaced tubes and sold it for $1k. I wouldn't mind having it now that I know a bit more than I did then...

I traded a really sweet 5150 combo to a former bandmate for a Jackson. That amp had some mojo, and sadly the guitar didn't. Not slamming Jacksons, that Kelly just wasn't up to snuff. I play a 5150 head now, but the combo sounded a little better to me.

Well i can honestly say I currrntly own the best ap ive had. And dont regret it at all. lol
My Crate VFX5212 is awesome. Altho i do miss my Marshall 1960AV cab the bichorus head was pretty sweet too for solid state.

The only amp I really miss, is a JCM Slash i got new when they came out. I found a crazy person who bought my JCM800 split channel for 500....and found another crazy person who sold me the brand new, never used, JCM Slash for $875 out the door. I sold the Slash when i was down and out...maybe that was my dues for the crazy deal in gettign that amp! However, the Vintage Modern i have now, really is a much better amp than the Slash....some my slam me for that...but the VM provides what i found lacking in the Slash, namely better lows, thicker mids, and more stock gain. Still wish I had the Slash though, as that and the VM would be the ultimate stereo rig for me. I now have a JCM900 MIII 50watt for my B amp, which I really love. Been a long time since a played a Slash or Jubliee, not sure which I would like better in a A/B test.

Well, let's see...

1. JCM800 50-watt head/cabinet: I regret selling it but it didn't really do it for me until it got to ear-splitting volume. But boy, did it do it for me when it was cranked.

2. MESA/Boogie S.O.B: I regret selling it but I also regret buying it. It was a great sounding amp, but it was a one-trick-pony and definitely not the sound I was after at the time. If I still had it around I'd put it to good use, leveling buildings and controlling the mosquito population.

3. Marshall Studio 15: Wait, no, I'm glad I sold that POS. If only it lived up to the hype... I wanted my JCM800 in a portable, not-ridiculously-loud package. What I got was a toneless dark piece of one-sound-that-sucks garbage. I truly think the JCM800 is the last time Marshall did anything right.

I regret trading my Laney VH100R for the VC50. I wanted the VH100R in a portable package because I didn't drive at the time.

Foolish traded it and hated the VC50. Spent alot of money getting that thing to sound better but it always sounded harsh and piercing. Where as the VH100R was out of this world.

Regret selling my Engl Powerball. I sold it at the time because I had the VH100R at the same time and I wanted a 7 string. But the Powerball would of come to great use now for the band I'm auditioning for.

Is that the little Marshall combo I'm thinking of, or was there another little Marhall combo called a "Lead?"

I don't know what you're thinking of, but I don't think so, because the Studio 15 is called the Studio 15.

It says "Studio 15" right on the front, between the controls and power/standby switches.

I've got one of the little Kerry King MGs. It actually sounds pretty cool. Noisy, but a good sound. Also the gain is mostly and on-off knob.

I wish I never sold my carvin v3. My band broke up and I didnt see a need for a tube amp I sold it to a friend for real cheap. A couple months later I got in a new band and bought some modeling stuff instead. But the friend that I sold the v3 to is know lettig me borrow his vht clx for my gigs because he felt he owed me becuase I sold him the amp for so cheap.

Oh yeah, i've heard good reviews from the KK amp. But I got an mg30dfx, the last run of them before they got recalled into a new designed series. I think I know why they re-did them. And I know why I got mine for cheap... :think:
