  • any mesa mark v demos

Has anybody had a chance to try the mark v yet? There hasn't been much new information or reviews that I could see since namm. Is this on any of your need to try lists as well?

I'll be interested to read your opinion. The clips I've heard so far aren't very inspiring. The clean tones, especially, sound very stiff and sterile. It'll be interesting to see if the Mk V does nail the famous IIC+ tone. If it really can do that, the Mk V will probably become a legend in Boogie history.

But what IIc+ tone is it going for? the IIc+ has a lot of different tones. Also the clean on the V from that NAMM vid didn't sound very much like a mark clean. It sounded more like a recto clean.

That's true about "which" IIC+. The various transformers are said to matter quite a bit to the different IIC+'s out there. I suppose the Dream Theater and Metallica fans will have a lot of opinions on how the new Mk V sounds in the IIC+ mode.

As for the clean sound, I would tend to agree with your opinion.
