  • Stupid Ohms question.

If you have a Rectifier Cab rated @ 8 ohms and a Bogner UberCab @ 8 ohms and you are using both outputs on the back of an Uberschall, does the switch need to be set at 4 ohms?

Yes, thats what I do. I have run two 16 Ohm cabs at 8 ohms setting on the back of the head.

        Yep 4 Ohms is correct.

When running in series, you add resistances.
When running in parallel, the inverse toal is the sum of the inverse resistances.

        So in this case, 1/R = 1/8 + 1/8 = 2/8 = 1/4, so R = 4.

Hey Nate, how's it going? Just curious, why would you be connecting both outputs of your head to the same cab? Is it a stereo head? If its stereo, and you're setting your cab switch to stereo, then your cab becomes 16 ohms each side. In that case, you have to leave your head at 8 ohms each side. Is that right?

No, he said he had 2 cabs: the rectifier cab and the bogner cab.
