anybody have experience with legend amps? specifically the 30 watt combo or the rock-n-roll 50 combo? i am looking for a light weight combo to take to blues jams, jazz jams, etc. i can pick up one or both of these for pretty cheap...well, dirt cheap, actually. and while i'd LOVE to buy another rivera r-55 for this application, the economy doesn't justify the cost.

i already know that the legend amps have tube pre-amps and solid state power amps. i have they are quite loud, and i know they look sweet.

i am questioning the tone, weight and reliability. can anybody help me out? i CAN go try them out, but it's like a 3 hour drive one-way...IF i feel pretty solid about it, i won't mind the drive.....

    thanks.

PS - i don't want a line 6 or a roland cube or anything else. i am curious about the legend amps. WORSE case senario, i don't buy one or both and i take my fender tremolux and rat pedal to these jams and i will be just fine.
    GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

    and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

Terrible! I had a legend 60 half stack with the wood and wicker cabinet. You are NOT missing anything special there IMO. Weak, thin tone ..not clean..not dirty..nor crunchy..pretty worthless. Unless you're playing bad versions of Dick Dale..

    I ran a SD-1 in front..it was gay.

It looked kinda nice ..in a retro piece of furniture sorta way.

    yuck!

Sure Mark..you got that covered with your Fender. I think..

I paid $200 for a mint half stack w/ 4 X"12. I sold it for $400..so at least I doubled my cash on it. You prolly could sell that combo for 3 bills for someone looking for that amp..but's it's wasn't very popular and they're pretty obscure. But I don't want you to be stuck with anything you couldn't flip very easily. Because you'll be wanting to.

I played one once and it was louder than hell but sounded like complete shit. It was the 50 watt one - terrible amp.

Once I was jamming with my buddy while I was playing the Legend. My sweet 96 year old neighbor lady broke my window telling me to "shut the hell up". That was hilarious..she was out there yelling, but I couldn't hear her banging on the window. My freind was on the floor in hysterics..he couldn't breathe. That didn't help when I was trying to talk to her...that was a long time ago.

yeah, i don't wanna get stuck with a turd. economy sucks, so flipping shit at a profit would be too much work.

if my rivera M100 combo didn't weigh a hundred fucking pounds, i'd just use THAT and be done with it!!! so fender with a pedal it is.

                      thanks again man.

Plus, Bill flipped that amp at a time when there weren't that many cool amps around as there is now. It's a different world now with cheap Line 6 amps that sound great for what they are.

Ture..you could buy and sell gear so cheap then. Including Marshalls and Les Pauls galore..if I only knew.

My favorite "cheapies" at that time were Randall RG80 heads. I had a stack of those in various colors..
