The Vetta can handle 4, 8, or 16. Unfortunately, my Line 6 cab can only do stereo in 4 or 16 ohms, where I'll only be running two speakers, but can do 8 or 2 ohms in mono. Currently, it's set for 8 mono with the KMD (also 8 ohms mono) on the other side.

It's a total bummer that this cab can't do 4 ohms mono. I would be buying the Marshall 1960 tomorrow to replace the KMD.

The line 6 is a really nice cab. It does 320 watts total in mono and sounds great.

you can't go wrong with a Marshall 1960 series. Also.. look at the Peavey 5150 cabs loaded with Sheffields and Carvin Cabinets are extremely good. Mesa cabs are a little on the pricey side. IMHO.. they are not worth the money. A good Marshall 1960a or b will do the trick.

There is a good deal on a 1960 local to me, but I can't use it unless I only want to use two of the speakers in stereo mode to get 8 ohms. I'll be using it with a Line 6 cab on the other side and it can only do 4 or 16 ohms in stereo, or 8 in mono.

Is that a Digitech Multi Play on your board (the red one)?! This was one of my first pedals I ever got in the late 80s. I since sold it though. I haven't seen one in years.

I use 2 2/12 Crate Celestion slant cabs in my bedroom...for my right
channel out of the VHT/BossGT10/Gmajor combo...they sound tight,
and excellent! Are they as good as my VHT 4/12 cab? No! But they

are 2/3'rds as nice...and they cost $125.00 each! (VHT cab was $1000.00!) If the price is great,
then why not try it? You can always sell a 4/12 cab for $160.00
Try to buy it close to that price imo.
Check out clean used Peavey 4/12 cabs also... great bang for the buck

              +1.
I picked up a sheffield loaded early 5150 cab for 180.
It looks like pine, not sure.

The sheffields were a little bright for my taste so I put
a couple old Kustoms in the top portion for more mid bass.
I also changed the wiring from 16 mono to 8.
I'd have to look it up to see how I wired it to get that.
Also used a switching jack for stereo option.
I think I changed it from series to parallel.

I have a Crate 4x12 Bottom with Celestions in it. Came that way from the factory. It has the exact same speakers as my 1960 GT-75's It sounds killer. I do not know the model number but it is also a 16 ohm cab with the stereo option. I think it sounds as good if not better than my 1960 slant.

Yep. It's a PDS 20/20 MultiPlay. I bought it used in the mid-80's.

I would love nothing more than to go pick up the used Marshall 1960 today, but I can't use it. I can't believe nobody carries Behringer around here. I keep reading the great reviews on one particular 4x12 that is 400 watts handling, 8 ohms mono, and sells in most places for $249.00. But of course, it would make too much sense for anyone around here to have one.

I've found it several places online, but I'm a real stickler about trying something out first. The Behringer looks great on paper but I've seen a lot of products that do that and don't pan out in real life.

                        But thanks!

I vote for a used Marshall 1960. Be patient and one will show up. I had the PDS delay back in the 80's. I loved it. I sold it a few years ago but I wish I still had it.

Any Crate cab with Celestions will have it badged as such, the others are crap!

I have that same KMD cab with Celestions and I can tell you they're the least expensive Celestions ever made and only 35 watters.

I'd have to hear them side by side to decide if the Behringer cab is any better, I doubt it though.

I'd keep the KMD until I could get a good name brand cab.
4 x 12s go for nothing here in Dallas all the time on Craigslist, I'd keep an eye open there.

You must have missed the rest of the thread. There is a used 1960 local to me at a good price, plus I saw another one today. They won't give me 8 ohms except in stereo, and then I'm only running two of the speakers. If I were willing to spend the money, I would love to just buy them both and run them both at either 4 or 16, both of which the Vetta will handle.

The PDS is nice, but I don't use it too much anymore except on the rare occasions when I break the Marshall head out.

Yep. That's the one I have; 35-watt speakers, front-loaded, and particle board construction. Some years ago, I added wheels to the bottom so I wouldn't have to lug it everywhere.

Here's the thing, though. This cab is only rated for 140 watts (35 Watts x 4) and it's getting 150 watts on that side from the Vetta. The Line 6 cab sounds excellent and it handles 320 watts. The projection is also better on the Line 6 cab, as well.

I personally think it's pretty stupid how they made the KMD a single, continuous slant from top to bottom, since a slant cab is supposed to project out and slightly upward.
