  • Celestion upgrade

I have laney cab's fitted with celestion seventy 80's. I'm looking to upgrade them and was looking at the classic super lead. Is that a worthwhile upgrade or would you consider it a waste of money?

I believe the seventy 80 is based on the classic lead as a cheap alternative for amp manufacturers to use as a stock speaker.

Are you just upgrading for the heck of upgrading? Is money burning a hole in your pocket?

For any upgrade to be successful, you need a plan.

    More bass?

    More midrange?

    More treble?

Why do you want to upgrade? What are you trying to accomplish?

For example, I have a Marshall cab loaded with G12T-75s. I think I might want more midrange, so I might get a pair of V30s and do an X pattern.

Never got the mixing speakers thing... Which one do you mic at a show?

Prolly cheaper to find a cab already fitted with the speakers you want and sell the laneys

Me - play at a show - that's funny John

I think people who use mixed cabs use several mics and mix them. I've heard of them using three at a time.

upgrading alittle for the sake of it i guess. I wanna keep the laney cab as they match the head. I was looking into just doing the 212 anyway as this is my main cab i use.
Well i did a lot of research yesterday and looked into what i wanted to achieve and i've bought a pair of V30's. So see how that sounds at next rehearsal.
