It sounds like some kind of beat synced arpeggiator controlling a pitch shifter. I know the old M-Audio black boxes designed by Roger Linn had some kind of functionality like that. I think they've been discontinued but I believe the GT-8 and GT-10 may also have similar functionality. Or maybe it was the Korg AX3000...

Yeah the Korg has an arpeggiator thingy they call ESS. Sounds pretty synthy though.

Yeah, those M-Audio black boxes had a lot of the functionality of the Adrenalinn and they can probably be had much cheaper. You might want to take a deeper look into it to see if that is the case.
