ive heard the Mark IVs are one of the best amps out there for metal

go for the randall all the way.Sounds good and you can switch the modules if you want more versatility, other than that ive got a hughes & kettner switchblade you should get your eye on but theres no good metal clips of it sadly but when i tried it in the store it was better than the randall kirk hammet mts, marshall new dsl head, mesa dual rectifier, rivera tre knucklehead reverb, and the marshall kerry king wich I loved but its just not versatile enough for me.
I wonder what it feels like to have money...

...ahhh fuck it guitars are better!

          I heard that the 3120 is a 3 channel 5150

You really can't beat a 5150 for all around metal.. providing you can live with the HISS.

The legendary hiss is definitely part of the deal when you play a 5150!

I've been playing them since they were first released, and I guess I'm just used to it by now.

I ended up buying the Dual Rec since it was a bit less money for the same tone.
Did the same thing here a/b-ing the dual and triple. The only thing I noticed was more headroom on the clean channel of the triple so I went with the dual.

Best metal amp period if you can find one.

Tonally different than the newer silverface VH4 and they had a extra preamp tube.

I really suggest either the Randall T2 or V2. I just put a deposit on a T2, it's such a cool amp. It doesn't even need a boost of any sort. No fuzz or mud.

it's all so objective. i have my favorite amps that i use, but i have also gotten KILLER metal tones out of a fender tonemaster and super-sonic head. just try what you can and see what you like.
                          GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

                          and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

Probably a JCM2000 DSL100 or a Mesa Dual Rec. both are thick and tight.

The peavey vypyr tube amp head not out yet i dont think, i have the 112, and thast thign is amazing, i saw corey bealiue usign one the shogun dvd, and the 6505 model rips! and it has like tubescreamers and other amzaing stuff built in, plus it has good cleans. Thats what i like about modeling, all amps have a least one fault, but with modeling you get the best from every amp!
I hooked up my accelerator pedal in my car to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.
