I like the Blackmore better because Richie is a great player... although I think Tony Iommi used Laney's back in the day and we all know that Warren Demartini used Laney's but they weren't the same model as the one you mentioned.
It all depends on who your favorite player is. It has absolutely nothing to do with the amp.. or what sounds you are expecting to get out of it. Make your choice based solely on which one is better. uh..oh.. I hear that ping pong sound.

I say that Blackmore is a better song writer but Gilbert is the better player so I guess that means its a tie and therefore... Marshall and Engl are both better amps. But then.. Steve Morse comes into play and pushes Engl to the top so I guess Engl is better.
Actually, Uli Jon Roth is the best and he plays vintage Marshall's so I guess Marshall is better... and he was influenced by Hendrix who also used Marshalls so that confirms it.
I think I am finally starting to figure out how to tell which amp is better than another amp.

I just thought of something though... Jim Marshall designed his amps around original Fender amps which maybe means Fender is better. This is getting tough again. At least we don't have to waste our time trying the amps out. Its easier figuring out which amp is better this way.Comment

But Toejam, wouldn't that mean that mean that since the electrical current in the UK is different, that all Euro Amps have never been correct because they were based on Eurospec Fenders?? Would Jim Marshall have had to use a power converter to get the real sound to copy?
Therefore (possibly) all European amps suck?
Why the hell doesn't Eddie pick up a goddamned guitar and play something?
