OK, I just got this very confusing peice of equipment hooked up VIA midi though my Motu Ultralight (Midi and Digital connection) and got it hooked up to the computer and started playing with the patch editor that they have. I want to say that the patches that this thing comes with are for the most part, useless. Not really and killer grind tones but, once I got this thing hooked up and working, the first thing I was throw a couple of switches in the editor, tossed in a boost, adjusted the amp a little and Gawd Damn.... I was impressed. Even through a set of BX-8A's this thing sounds fucken tough. The cleans that this thing pumps out are damn amazing too. It's a keeper =)

I'm still doing that shit,,and smiling all the time.
There are three things you'll want to have,,
1)Download the archive of user presets,,there is some great stuff in there.
This powerful utility for Windows creates small Sys Ex messages and can send them to any MIDI device. It's also a great little MIDI monitor, and can easily
3) And IR converter, to change all your favorite Cab IR's(.wav) to the AXE-FX's (Sysex) format.....then load them into the ten user slots in the AXE with Bome's SendSX.

BTW,,,I'm 1 week in and I'm still blown away at the vast array of tones you can get out of it,,,,this thing just kills Best money I have ever spent on tone.

Great thread...I have heards tons lately about this Axe-FX stuff and I was kinda scratching my head bc I never heard of it until I started reading hugeracksinc.
That being said...I agree with earlier statements that most pro's only need 2-3 channels to get their sounds ...that is...unless your the Edge. Lol
I guess this unit would be great if you were a session musician or a hired gun.
Also, Im a complete IT geek ...I develop software for a living and even I think at some point reading a manual to play guitar is not very sexy.
There is something romantic about just plugging straight into a great amp ( with a pedal or two ) and cranking it.
Heck, I just watched the new Jeff Beck DVD and I can say that he blew me away and all he had was a Strat and a Marshall. He can get harmonics and melodies out of that guitar with ZERO technology.
AxeFX fans... still waiting, what clips do you consider representative? I still haven't found any I think that sound good, and I've listened to a bunch!
The ones on the official site are ok, but those were made from a very early firmware... there has been literally over a dozen firmware edition upgrades since that time.
Go to the Axe Fx Forum and listen to the user clips, they are much better, and are much more representative of what the Axe Fx can do now.
Personally I think most of the user posted clips sound very good, and definitely sounds more organic and tube-like than any other digital modeler out there. YMMV

They pop up for sale on www.thegearpage.net forum in their emporiums as well as on the Axe-Fx forum.
BTW, this whole discussion is way behind the one on the gearpage forum. They have argued the Axe-Fx both pro and con over there to the tune of hundreds of posts, literally!
Ah, Gearpage. I'm banninated from there for defending Pete against false accusations from some cunt who later admitted he was merely having his period AFTER he slandered Pete publicly.
Screw that place for brown-nosing the guy just because he had a recording contract
I'm sure these things are great but I'll never buy one.
I use TWO sounds. 1) Balls out gain for rythm. 2) same sound with a smidge of boost and delay for solos. That's it..
I never used a clean or "crunch" channel in my life..I don't wanna!
Bill, I love my Uber too. But just for the sake of $ comparison, how much is an Uber + a cab + a G-major (the rig you run now) compared to an Axe-Fx + QSC powered monitor?
Besides, you can even drop your guitar tuning a whole step in the Axe-Fx with the push of a button or even more than a whole step if you so choose. Or how about a harmonizer for solos that is as good as Eventide? Anyway, I'm one of those people who didn't replace my tube amps with an Axe-Fx, I simply added it. Its not either or for me. I still like my Marshalls, Bogners, etc...
