you guys make some compelling arguments about the value of the unit. Really, it costs as much as a handful of high end boutique pedals. I'm not bothered to do the sums to see how much to get the AxeFX over here just for the purpose of a comparison, but for some perspective, the G-System retails for around AU$3600 over here. That works out to something like US$2800 (obviously not factoring in things like shipping, Customs, etc)

Besides, I got one as did Tim and Pete how much more pro than that do you want? Anyway, the pros using/not using them doesn't bother me as there aren't many pros using my other combinations either (Jackson into a Bogner).
The price of the unit seems high at first but remember this unit is replacing a ton of other gear that costs way more than an Axe-Fx and can't do half the sounds the Axe-Fx can. The Axe-Fx replaces MULTIPLE high end amps as well as high end effects processors. Heck, think of the money involved just in connectors and cables to hook up racks or pedal boards full of gear that can begin to scratch the surface of what the Axe-Fx can do. Besides its quieter than all those other setups. And finally, unlike a lot of other gear the Axe-Fx is made of high end components and made in the USA. You can always pick up a used one for a bit less if you want. An Axe-Fx Standard is $1499. How much do you pay for a G-Force or G-System new or an Eclipse new?
This pretty much sums it up.

This is one of the best threads to come around lately.

Never mind the shirt not buttoned correctly.. what about that flag behind the drummer with the mug of beer on it.

Regarding the gear pros use - there's probably more pros using an Axe-FX than playing a Jackson guitar

See, thats what makes him a true pro! What you don't realize is that Tim is simply lining up the shirt in the most appropriate position to avoid any rash on the finish on the back of the guitar. Sheesh, damn amateurs, gotta explain everything to them

SWEET! They merged with Atomic amps!

I had one of those - true tube power amp designed by Harry Kolbe. All it needed was a Master Volume to control it and I'd probably still have mine. It killed with the MP-1. The POD didn't sound bad through it, but the MP-1......

Only thing that came close was Pete's 4-watt Twister Prototype through my Carvin 2x12, and it has a knob on it

They are putting the finishing touches on it and should be out soon.

I've been waiting to make an announcement about the Reactor FR until I had some specific delivery details to share. We’re still a little bit ahead of that but since everyone is eager to hear a report, I've decided to post an update anyway.

The good news is that everything has been sourced and we’ve already been through a round of pre-production prototypes that performed very well. There were a few minor updates in the design we wanted to incorporate before going to production so we ordered a final sample to verify. The final sample is nearly complete and should be in our shop for approval in around a week. Based on what we’ve seen already and the relative ease of the enhancements in the design, we expect no issues - but it is better to be safe than sorry and get this final sample in our hands before running production.

The bottom line is that factoring in approving the final sample, some minor tooling, production, testing, shipping and final QC before shipping to customers, we're looking at an early to mid July date.

I know that many of you have been waiting for a long time. We certainly hoped that we’d have production sooner but there were a few unforeseeable obstacles along the way. For example, our contract manufacturer from the last 5 years and our transformer vendor went out of business when the economy went south. Fortunately, this ultimately led to us teaming up with a very well-respected and stable American owned operation that will help ensure that the product is of the very highest quality. We also took the time to double source critical vendors (like for the transformers, etc.) to ensure that these types of delays would not occur in the future.

We're VERY excited about this product. If we didn’t think it was a significantly better companion to the Axe-Fx than other existing solutions, and totally worth the wait, we would've dedicated our resources to something else. I’m looking forward to letting our customers be the ultimate judge of that.

I'll provide a further update once we’ve got the production schedule nailed down. Thanks to all of you who’ve been waiting!

YO Dave! or any of you AxeFX guys

Describe how you have this thing hooked up.... Are you using it for any sort of re-amping also? What is your power/speaker setup? It sounds like for now that I am going to be using it for low volumes for the time being and going through a set of M-Audio BX8A's which is what I had my POD going though. But, I hear of a lot of people going though Carvin and QVC amps into full range monitors.

                              Sup?

I have been running mine strait into my JBL LSR studio monitors(you can see one in the pic I posted above), I have it run into my DAW 2 ways via,,,,,

                              1),,output 1 on the Axe > ch 1+2 on my Mackie D8B > bussed out through buss 1+2 > input 1+2 RME HDSP96/52 soundcard > DAW then output > JBL's via Spdif
                              ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,or > mackie return 1+2 > Main digital out via AES/EBU > JBL's

                              2) AXE-FX Spdif out > Spdif input on the RME HDSP96/52 soundcard > DAW then output > JBL's via Spdif

I did this to hear if there is any noticeable difference between the two,,I have not heard any. I think the difference in time is something like 30'something samples longer routing it through the board than going direct Spdif, so I cannot hear any latency difference, and they sound the same so I don't hear the A/D converters from either unit. When I do some recording with it I'll go direct to the Spdif in just so I can keep the signal digital all the way, as it will only be converted once at the Axe input.

I haven't got around to running it into one of my cabs yet(it just sounds so good like this) but I have the day off today, so I might try that later. as far as re-amping, I haven't tried that yet either, I might give it go later though just for shits and giggles

I think either way, I would like to either pick up a carvin power amp, and an FRFR speaker, or one/two of the powered FRFR's, just cause my studio monitors sound so good, and I can take advantage of all the factory cab sims(and my own cab sims, as you can upload 10 of your own).

Reading this thread is detrimental to the pocket book. After looking at another setup that would cost close to this I am considering just picking this up.
