  • Wall wart for X-15?

Got my X-15 Ultrafoot this morning.

Anyone use a Universal Power Supply (Wall Wart) with one? Mine didn't come with the PS.

As long as the power supply you use is the correct voltage, the correct polarity, and can deliver the amperage, you should be fine with a universal one.

Unfortunately I don't know what voltage, polarity, and amperage it takes, hence the question

The PDF manual doesn't say, and it's not on the unit.

        Power
If you find you must replace the power adapter, make sure
the specifications meet or exceed the specifications of the
original adapter. The ART X-15 was designed to work with
        just about any battery eliminator.
The Pedal will work with eliminators that produce a minimum
100 milliamperes (ma) of Alternating Current (AC or VAC) at
6.3 to 15 volts or Direct Current (DC or VDC) at 9 volts to
        24 Volts.

          Cool.

I've got a 300ma adaptor, but it's got a polarity switch. That got me up and running.

Now, anyone know how to make the pedals adjust the Whammy and Wah of the 2101? I've been messing with CC assigments and such, but to no avail. I can change programs no problem, but the pedals don't even register in the 2101.

it has to be set up inside your effects unit to recognize the pedals as well as in the x-15 itself...it's been years for me so i don't rtemember much but the link will give you the entire instruction manual for the x-15...it should help...d.m.

Thanks. I've got the PDF manual, but it says the X15 is already set up as a Foot Controller on CC 4 and an Expression pedal on CC 11 by default (I did a factory reset on it). Setting the 2101's CCs to those has no effect.

I'll hafta dig through both manuals.

Can you switch patches with the X-15 or turn effects on and off with the stomp buttons? The X-5 uses a little strip on the pedal for its controller and not a pot. Every once in a while those strips will come out the hole.

I just had this happen to me and once I put it back I was able to get CC 4 to work.

Ok I got it. The little film strips were out of the optical sensors. Popped them back in and it works good as new

Heh. You posted while I was still playing with everything.

Anyhoo, probably if you programmed the X-15 buttons inside the unit itself you could use them to turn effects on/off, but just scrolling through the 2101's assigments, it doesn't work. Program changes are ok, but switching to Effect On/Off mode doesn't do anything.

I'll hafta dig into the manual more.

Ok, here's how to get the X-15 to turn on/off effects (in the 2101 Artist, anyway)

Each of the buttons on the X-15 are assigned a Continuous Controller value (CC) inside the pedal itself.

Go to the corresponding effect's On/Off parameter in the 2101's patch, press MIDI, then link the corresponding CC value to the effect.

                        Button 1 = CC 70
                        Button 2 = 71
                        72
                        73
                        74
                        75
                        76
                        77
                        78
                        Button 10 = CC 79

So to turn the Compressor On/Off using button 2 (1 is Exciter, 2 is compressor on the pedal), select Compressor in the 2101, push MIDI, press Next, and the screen says "Comp "Compr" is not linked". Turn the Data Wheel until it shows "Comp "Compr" Links to MIDI CC 71". Press MIDI again and then Store to save it for that patch.
