Jackson Preamp...

I've seen them on Ebay, and I think Criagslist. I want to pick one up next time I see one, but I don't know if there anygood. Can I get some feedback on these. P.S. I use a ADA MP-1.

If u mean the JX-3 stereo preamp, yeah, I had one for a while. It was a very mediocre sounding unit. It had 1 or 2 tubes in it. I played it thru a Mesa 50/50 poweramp and it didn't impress it me so I moved it.

I had one I sold to Hippie tim a few years back, I noticed he sold it in the classifieds, not long after, it does one eighties metal tone, and I agree, very mediocre.

Well I have one and use it in my rack.
Plenty of OD and gain it does 80's metal to the "T".
Treble,Mid,Bass, Presence and level controls and a clean.
L.R.master control,bright in/out.2 gain settings.
I run two 4X12 cabs in stereo and it sounds great.
Using an ADA power amp and Intellifex.It does pretty good over all.
Now if I use a tube head for power either my Carvin 100 watt or Ampeg Lee Jackson 100 watt it really opens up and sings.
Lots of good sizzle.
I did install some old Mullard 12AX-7's so maybe that hepled some.
If you can get it fairly cheap go for it you can always use it for trading fodder.

Yeah, I'am currntley borrowing the ADA from my Dad, and want to get a preamp all my self. Well if it does 80's thrash then thats right up my alley.
