The Ford service manual calls that the "wiggle test".
First thing they have you do when running down an electrical issue is disconnect and reconnect all harnesses and wiggle all wire bundles.

The same rules can apply to any electrical device.

Glad you got it figured out.

I thought the wiggle test only applied when you are hiring female technicians.
Back to the topic.. I'm glad you got it fixed.

        Cool!

I can't tell from the schematic- are all those wires coming off the secondary side of the PT on a ribbon strip?

Ribbon strip?? If you mean like the cables in a computer, no. They're all separate wires.

I wonder if it could be something having to do with the sticker on the PT that says something to the effect of "internal thermal reset". But if it was that, I'd think the whole thing would shut down, not just the filament part. It didn't look like any of wires connecting from the PT to the board had a loose connection but maybe it did and now it's good. Who knows. Hopefully it'll stay good.
