Thanks guys for all the input I appreciate it.
I did get it today and yes its pretty much what I was looking for.
Yep its pretty brutal, good crunch and tons of low end.All tubes are Mesa too and look new.
Traded two so-so guitars I had a total of $250.00 in so a good deal for me.GC even thru in a 1 year warranty.
Had some mad money in my pocket so I picked this MIK Ibanez RG 321 hardtail up as well. Its been stripped and cleared so I may strip it down and do a burned stained blue finish on it.
The serial num isCO2112136 so if anyone has a clue to what year it is.I have no clue on the Korean Ibbys.Solid player a great deal for $80.00.

Man, with such a great rack setup...that screams for a Rackmount Stereo
amp. ala Boogie or VHT! That rack is too beautiful to put that monster
        on top of it!

I'm gonna try it in the rack tonight just to see how it sounds.
Its awesome just thru the Jackson 4X12 cab on its own.
yeah a Boggie 2:90 is what I want but can't find one at a fair price.

I would say any peavey for that price is great! Although I guess you could compare me to Ted Nugent, because I ONLY use Peavey. Coincidently my bass player also uses a peavey amp that his neighbor got for him. Of course we use all peavey live sound (pa, monitors etc.) But actually I have never played one of those. I'll have to look them up. What do they normally go for? (price-wise)
I hooked up my accelerator pedal in my car to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

In my opinion Peavey doesn't get as much respect as they should. I think a few of their amps are great, and much cheaper than some of their competition.

Its a very ballsy amp to say the least and my first Peavey head I have had a few combo amps but they had a SS pre amp.The 5150 combo I had was nice but too much To tinker with.
This is straight foward and very user freindly.
Way more gain than I need but good to know its there when I need it.Very sastified.

Yep... extremely underrated amp. If I recall.. the Ultra is what Joe Satriani based the JSX around.
The one I had was the 60w 1 x 12 combo. It ripped. I liked it better than the Mesa Boogie Nomad 50 and the 5150 combo I had at the time. Unfortunately.. it wasn't mine to keep. I was holding it for a friend who was moving and was sad to see it go. Ballsy is an accurate description.

I think Lynch based the XXX around the ultra (when it was supposed to be a lynch Amp)

Found a few little things that need attention like the hi gain input jack has lost a little tension and the resonance switch is a bit gritty but thats no problem I'll fix that tomorrow.
                          This thing is a monster.

No, That's absolutely right!! The JSX is Joe's tweaked version based on the XXX. My friend has an original Peavey Ultra 120..eh..it's OK. But I wouldn't own one, even at that time. I defintely prefer the 5150/6505 and JSX over those. The XXX is a bit hairy and unrefined. I can dial in a good sound with a JSX within seconds, and 5150s sound cool (owned five), But they can easily sound like complete shit in the wrong hands. Which means alot of local bands around here..that's for sure!

But for the $$$ you gotta try the Peavey 3120. I keep tellin' you guys..you MUST try these! I like these best!

They're the best Peavey heads to date IMO!
"Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
                            Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.

I tried it I was able to dial in an amazing intruder tone. I thought it actually sounded similar to the ultra. It is a good amp

Peavey Ultras kick ass, The Ultra Plus is the one with the Light-up logo.

Its not "mega-high-gain" but it gets up as high as one should need LOL.

I have the Ultra 120 1/2 stack, and couldn't be too much happier (I won't say I" couldn't be happier" because there are some little things about my specific amp that need some fixing, but all in all, it sounds kick ass)
