But take into effect that the sl-x can do blues, classic rock, thrash metal and death metal is something that makes the amp very versatile. If you add a pedal in front of the sl-x it can go even further, but usually I just add more gain and gain sensitivity and I am hitting black metal and a lot of other genres of metal with ease.. Since I like to play both clean music *rarely now* and I play more of the death metal, I am completely happy with my sl-x!
Just my opinion,

I like the SL-X as well, but just think the 900 has a little more to offer.

Definitely needs to be cranked, but try out the Genz Benz El Diablo 60. I took a chance on it 3 years ago and have no regrets. At low volumes it can get very buzzy, but if you switch it to 30W/Triode mode it warms right up and is a fine bedroom amp as well.
Oh, and all of the YouTube clips I've heard make it sound like crap. You must hear it in person.Scott

Yeah the versatility is of the Dual Reverb is nice, but there is something that I do not like about the DR amps, even though they have the 2 independent channels, I personally do not like having reverb in the amp, plus having 2 independent channels also means more can go wrong, for example some people have problems with one channel and the other channel is fine... But also what kind of music are you playing?? If you are playing metal, how often do you play clean especially for live?? I usually just turn down the volume on my guitars or I set channel B to really loud and turn the gain sensitivity down to play clean... Other then 5 - 10 minuets max, am I playing clean, otherwise if I want to play clean all the time, I just use my Martin Acoustic... For me I am playing the heavier high gain metal, clean is really not something that I am worried about....
