Well, I ordered a Splawn Quick Rod amp

Congrats on the Quickrod purchase. I have one as well, and absolutely love it. The solo boost is killer, and I am done with my tone quest. Been through a lot of amps (Mesa, Marshall, VHT, etc) and the QR blows them all away.

Did you get a 2x12 or 4x12 cab?

well, if the Splawn is that impressive, I will have to sell the Mesa (thats gonna hurt) and fund a 2nd splawn. who knows though.......maybe I will enjoy the variety.

nah...Splawns are cool but its nice to have a mixture of different amps

The QR kills for malmsteen/gilbert tones but the nitro can give you an amazing mediumly saturated shred tone.

That's pretty much the exact tone I'm going for. Malmsteen cleanlyness with a little bit of Cacophony and Racer X saturation. Am I better off with the QR?

Alright I think the nitro is more you if you want some cacaphony saturation.

God damn... they scream a fluid lead tone. They are increadible amps. They are NOT for bedroom players. Without a break or something in the effects loop you are going to get your balls blown the fuck off. These things are extremely loud but, if you have the a place to play them, you will be a happy man.

I like my QR because it can dial in a pretty good 80s vibe.

The latest version of the QR can be found used on the forums for $1200-$1300.

Bought an '09 Quick Rod on ebay today, absolutely can't wait to check it out. I've been going crazy wanting to try one and have been waiting for an '09 to show. Used the Microsoft Bing discount so will get a rebate of $198 off the Buy it Now price. I really wanted to order one new so I could get a headshell more to my liking but just don't have the patience to wait that long. Next week when it arrives should be interesting.
