I have the RM100KH. It's loaded with JJ 6L6's. I think the 12AX7s were JJ's as well. I don't know that there's a big difference between mine and the regular model. The Lynch box has EL-34's in it. Beyond that, most everything else is just cosmetic from what I understand.

I would mind getting the 50-watter too...

BTW - there's one on eBay that's loaded for $899. I've played that one. Minus the cosmetic stuff, it's pretty clean. It's got a Deluxe, Ultra, & KH-2 module. THe KH-2 was mine, but I traded it for the Ultra XL that was in it. It's in Burnsville, MN, and it's at Music Go Round. My friend owns the store. I'll be down there tomorrow - it's our Sunday afternoon "old guy hangout".

Thats also the way I understand it. I have the RM100LB which has JJE34L's.

I also understand the KH model has a 'slight' power section tweak for a little more bottom end.

Stock XTC module is nice, but it doesn't sound like a real one.

        • can you go back and forth between EL-34's and 6L6's like the Mesa's or do you need to buy the model tht runs what you like?
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

You can switch them out. This is the EASIEST amp in the world to bias! I bought a multi-meter and biased mine myself - and I've never worked on an amps in my life!

Yes. You can even mix them both together. Its so simple to swap tubes even a total novice can do it. This amp is the BOMB.
Easily the best amp I have ever owned.

              • how do these sound at lower volumes? do any of you have the 50 watt model
or is the 100 watt the way to go?
this thing has me intriqued. Petes Recto module sounds fucking killer. Il'd ove to be able to channel switch between a mrk series module and a recto module on the fly.
I'm still alittle confused by the base amp model I see different RM100 MTS models on ebay but they all look pretty similar to me.:think:

oh and do any of the stock modules sound good or are the modded ones the way to go?

                is this good deal?

They are all basically the same. Do yourself a favor and get the RM100 which is the 100w 3 module head. You can put whatever tubes you want in it but I am pretty sure it comes stock with 6l6's. It sounds fantastic at super low volume.

                  • Low volumes are fine with this amp. The Volume on the preamp is already saturated, so the power amp is just a bonus.

I'd go with the 100 watter as well if I were to only have one amp.

As far as the factory modules, YES, there are plenty that sound very good. Of course it seems that the "Pete Treatment" certainly wakes them up. I have his Recto module, and the verdict among me & my friends is "FUCK YEAH!!" I'd take it over my REAL Single Rec any day.

                    • apart from the sig models, the Hamster & the Lunchbox, the difference between the RM100M & RM100S is the fascia. The "M" has a metal grille, the "S" is a more traditional look

I'm vry intrigued, I need to paly one of these things myself
and see what the deal is. (although my Mark IV soundling very godly lately).

I think the Ultra XL get you in the 5150 ballpark the closest....

                          • Anyone want to comment on the reliability of these Randall things? On another forum I'm hearing murmors about them breaking down.

Every amp has issues... I think the big problem with them(and it's being fixed) is the power/standby switches. They arc because of a design flaw. The other thing to consider -- moving parts. This amp is unique in that aspect, and I'm sure it makes a difference.

I haven't had mine long, but I did get it used. No problems at this point.
