Amen. I walked out during the guitar solo - nothing but a wank-fest, not coherent at all. The VH I saw on '07 at 145.00/tkt couldnt put a pimple on the ass of the VH I saw in '78 for 8.50/tkt.
You sir, can go you fuck yourself and don't let the door hit you in the vagina on the way out.
You're such a pretencious, phony, boring, transparent, self righteous worthless fuck..You are amusing as a genital wart!

Agree with everything said here. I saw them in 2004 with Sammy doing a great job and Ed drunk off his ass. His entire guitar solo was just drunken weird noises, no shred whatsoever. It was pathetic. I could have blown Ed off the stage the night.

I saw them again in 2007 with Roth and it was a great show but the whole time I was there, I kept thinking about how much money I spent on the damn tickets....... kind of pissed me off.

For many many many years I would never miss a local show from any of the old biggies....... Metallica, Megadeth, Kiss, Motley Crue, Ozzy, Van Halen, etc. Now, with ticket prices in total insanity I seriously rethink which shows I will go to. Metallica still puts on a great show and seems to keep ticket prices lower than most, Megadeth if the price isn't too insane, Kiss for damn sure(going in Dec), Ozzy not a chance in hell anymore, Van Halen......... I just don't know. I'd like to see them put out some new music and see if they still can produce. Motley Crue is the band that always delivers, great live show, even puts out some decent new music.

I saw Cheap Trick/Poison/Def Leppard a few weeks back and that was a really good show. Def Leppard has come a long way, really surprised me live. Hell, I even really enjoyed Cheap Trick, hadn't seem them in 20 years.

Same here. Last show i went to was metallica. Only went cuz i got a free ticket, no way i wouldve paid the 68+ ticketraper bs fees. Spent 75+ 14 for vh, and 68+ 14 for ozzy two years ago. oz was okay, we had great seats at least. Now, acdc is 90.50 +14.50. No way im going. Ive drawn the line. Ill go buy a dvd of their old shit when brian could still sing.
Its a complete catastrophe. But Im a professional, I can rise above it. LOL

Well stated and I agree with everything except the comment on Kiss...no way in hell I'm paying to see others in Ace and Peter's makeup. It may be stupid, but it just rubs me the wrong way.

I don't care how much the ticket costs. The way VH has influenced me is priceless. I could never pay back the debt.

It's great to be a loyal fan, E, but you gotta draw the line at some point, imo. I don't care how much somebody's early work may have meant to me, they're not getting lifetime access to my wallet (or my valuable free time) if they stop giving enough of a shit to be a pro & put on the best show they can for the fans.

True but I can't complain because I'm happy with the show I saw. Ed's solos were ok, some were somewhat sloppy and whatnot. But I really enjoyed the vibe. Although the mix was a bit muddy sometimes, their overall sound was really heavy. They sounded really dark when they did Fair Warning tunes. It was sick. Can't get that kind of experience from the albums. And it was really enjoying watching Alex play. He always improves. Although he has always been a great swinging drummer then many of his solos in the 80's were pointless wank-fests. But that night he played a very well composed and grooving solo. One of the best I've seen in a rock concert. He sounds more and more like his idol Ginger Baker, and in a good way.

That being said, the high prices suck because of the kids. Maybe some teenager picks up a guitar because of Ed and really wants to see his idol but can't because the price is so high and instead of him some douche who doesn't even care about the band gets the ticket just to show off.

$50 to $60 Tickets? Where are you guys going to sit? 400 feet away?
They will cost $160.00 for anything close. I noticed that EVH did NOT
release a DVD of 2008 concerts? Tells me that he couldnt put 1 hour of
decent footage together to fill a DVD! I had plans of shelling out the $50
for the DVD, and sit comfortably in my underware..(anyone need a vid?)
and enjoy the new lineup, but VH Industries didnt come through!
Im fine with my 97' Sammy double DVD. Its good enough. I thought
Gene Simmons was a $ whore, but Eddie has perched himself in Don King
                    rarified air!

If they could figure out a way to put out a decent 2 hour DVD from the 2008 tour, all you would read from here on out is ........ "No fuckin way am I spending $150 on a Van Halen ticket when I can sit at home in my underwear and watch the overpriced DVD that I downloaded for free". I would probably be in that group. I'm sure a good DVD with DLR would kill their future ticket rapefest. I don't expect a DVD until DLR gets tired of Eddies BS and leaves the group for good.

And one more thing that bugs the crap out of me ........ If you're going to charge $150 a ticket, get a decent opening act or two, not some reggea snoozefest that nobody cares to see.

Do you really want to be that close and see just how decrepit Eddie is?

At least you can maintain the illusion of youthful vigor in your mind if you sit in the nosebleeds.

+1 on that! I saw them in 78' about 3 months after their first album was
released, and they played for 3 hours! Felt like it was just another back
yard party... Man, they wailed, and were so excited to be touring, you
could feel the excitement from all 4 of them. EVH looked like he was 17!
                          I think i paid $10.50 a ticket!

I heard back in 78 or so Van halen used to parachute on stage

I don't think so, although DLR wanted to do that at the US Festival.
