HAHAHAH! If you look at the picture of the control cavity cover you can see someone just took a phillips screwdriver and scribbled wavy lines all over it. It doesn't resemble normal buckle rash or normal wear at all.

When the whole distressed finish thing started I liked a few that I saw but they were all essentially being done as couterfeit guitars then to try and squeeze money from wanna be collectors. It seemed likeed they cared about making the wear authentic. Now it seems like they just attack them with a dull tool and a bic lighter.

To give credit where it's due though they did do a nice job on the knobs and although it's hard to tell, possibly the pickups as well.

Someone photoshop an "EET FUK" sticker onto that thing. That would be hilarious.
                Or maybe just mildly interesting.

I guess the V shape must "suck tone" or something.

He looked like he was uncomfortable with it onstage during the Jimmy Fallon performance if you ask me. I thought he looked odd with it, but then again I'm used to seeing him with Vs. He's made it his signature in many ways, so this is just weird. Same as the ESP Axxion or whatever it was called. HIDEOUS. Plus he never played it.

Whoever said it above is correct, every time Dave does an odd shape he bails. During the Jackson years, he played that Firebird or whatever it was in the Trust video, then the ESP Axxion, and now this... None of which he's played live lol. Weird.

And of all shapes and colors he had to choose a WHITE EXPLORER?? Shoulda just called it the Dean Eet Fuk Junior LOL

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

That being said, if anyone feels the need to offload some tone sucking Kahler fixed bridges I will take them and save your tone from total destruction

The headstock HAS to go.It's weak.Other than that it looks better than 90% of any other Dean.It does need neck binding like others have said...

Hetfield doesn't really play explorer bodies that much anymore, i see him with more V and paul shapes now a days.
If i were to buy a Dean Mustaine model i would get the VMNT with the bloody wings, Angel of Deth. Thats a bad ass looking guitar, but aren't they korean or chinese? I couldn't pay that much for a guitar with those origins.

Yep you're correct. I owned a silver VMNT1. Was okay I guess, but it was no Jackson King V. Let's put it that way. I sold it after a couple months of owning it. It had QC issues (as you can imagine), and I've heard they all suffer from similar issues. I can't speak for anyone but myself of course, but I wasn't overly happy with mine. It was lightweight as hell too. Kinda weird to be that light. made my King Vs feel like Les Pauls LOL
