I don't think you can be physically intimated by anyone that wears a rune hat.

I also suspect he is wearing a wig under the hat. His hair look kind of...unnatural .

All I know is that when I saw Deep Purple live on the Perfect Strangers tour he was smokin' on guitar, in fact the whole band was on that night. One of the best of many concerts I saw back in the 80's. When you can play like that you can get away with any hat you want

I saw that tour as well and they were awesome. But I really think Ritchie needs to get back to present times.

Ritchie is still one of my favorites and personally i commend him for playing the type of music he actually enjoys..yea he could go back and become just another touring "jukebox" like countless others but whats the point at this stage of his career?

..he doesn't need the money, he has nothing left to prove, he can tour and record whenever he feels like it with none of the usual record label pressures and all without having to sacrifice his family life

            i say power to him

PS : don't discount the "Nights' albums, while the themes might not be to everyone's taste, there a lot of incredible guitar playing in there and usually a few rockers ala the Rainbow Days

Did you see them at the Coliseum in Richfield/Cleveland? That was a great show, I was 20 rows from the stage.

There's some Blackmore's Night stuff on youtube where Ritchie streches out a bit live with his strat. His playing is still in fine shape. Too bad nobody talks about him anymore.

I don't remember the name of the song but I'd post the clip. His solo is about a minute long or so. I'll see if I can come up with something...
