My guess would be is that that first ascending lick would make it on the final solo, the rest was 'play though'. Don't know many solos that aren't full of punch ins to create the final product.

Warren is world class but I have no doubt some guys on here could lay down something just as good.

Do any of the guitarists that grew up in the LA metal scene really come across in their playing as having "soul" ?

I love the "pyro" play of Warren in the early years, but I love the later stuf even more - his feel, tone, and phrasing were second to none. He had a "chime" to his sound that noone else had (or has). One of my favorite solos - "Nobody Rides For Free" - that, to me, is the perfect solo. I hear nuances of that from this solo...I have high hopes for this album. I hope it doesn't suck the life outta the room like the last couple...

yup, I like his lead work on Detonator a lot more than on the early albums which were better songwriting wise.

Warren is great. I love his phrasing... That first lick he's playing here is badass.

Thanks for posting that link. I think Warren sounds pretty darn good. I just wish that we didn't have to wait until next March for the new disc, "Infestation".

I wonder how many leads Carlos Cavazo will take.

Damn right...that first lick is one of the coolest things I've heard in a long time. Well done Warren!

1:14 through 1:22 or so is my favorite part.
He's always catchy, an art form that has been lost for
a long long time now. Slippery fingers De Martini will always be one of my favorites.

I like him in QR, but seeing him live with Ratt was less-than-inspiring. Carlos was playing Robbin's lead - or should I say SHREDDING them, which isn't what Robbin was about. There was no melody to it.

Warren's always been one of my favs. Caught Ratt a few months ago in Clearfield, PA and Warren was amazing. Those Charvels were singin'!

Warren using a Gretsch and jamming with Dweezil over an old Zappa tune http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InDLt...eature=related
