That's Jason who posts here under the name AK47. He's since sold that Soloist...

That'd be good, if he'd know cos I'd have thought the Soloist was long-retired by then....

Thanks alot. I checked some of his old posts and the pics of it are still on photobucket. Acording to another forum thread, a guy got a replica made while jeffs was in for repair or something. When he got the replica they also gave him a folder with detailed pics of the original. It would be great to see them.

I can vaguely remember a photo shoot either prior to, or just after the release of the South of Heaven record with that guitar, up to then Jeff was using BC Rich Biches and an ST3 with various stickers on it- mostly german WWII slogans, some time around 87-88.

In an old guitar interview which was around the South of Heaven release IIRC, they were talking gear and mentioned how Kerry was using the preamps in the BC Riches he had as a boost, and Jeff was using the Jackson preamps in his soloist, which I think had Jackson pickups originally. This was before ESP snagged them. I'm assuming it was the same guitar as above. I don't think he ever had a 2nd Jackson.

Yes, Jackson was his main guitar that time. Now he mostly plays ESP, but besides of this you can see this soloist in the Bloodline clip,

I like Slayer, a lot, but it amazes me people watch videos looking for little glimpses of a certain guitar.
Crazy. It's not like Jeff or Kerry have a good guitar tone, they've sounded like crap since the late 80's.

Here's a vid of Slayer live circa ~'90-91 doing Raining blood/Black magic, the one released when Decade of aggression came out. He's got the same soloist as above with the Kahler nut lock. The pickups are covered and are either EMGs or Jackons, and I'm leaning toward them being Jacksons but can't be sure.

Both Hanneman & King have famously used EMGs for most of their career.

I feel ya, but in the vid I posted King clearly has non-EMGs in the BC V. But this was "relatively" early, as King still had hair!
