I'm really not sure. I wouldn't be surprised if he had Fender make him his own set. This may not seem like big news, but Yngwies been with this company for over 20 years. I'd say he's a pretty big player for them.

I don't care how high maintenance he might be or whatever, if you sell pickups, you make that guy happy.

how many pickups does Yngwie actually sell for Dimarzio? I mean, apart from the YJM clone set? The old farts buy their retro-styled single coils, the young'uns buy high gain buckers. How many people are buying YJMs & HS3s?

I know quite a few people that love those pickups. Also take into consideration how many Yngwie clones want Yngs exact pickups and tone.. There's quite a bit of those..

Meh. The world has bigger problems. He's become a bit obscure anyway.

Are they losing any other players? Hard to say but these are some trying times and not just financially. Wish em the best.

I have no doubt this is a result of Yngwie asking for more money because that is what it always comes down to - it's a business. If Yngwie asked for more money than Dimarzio felt he was worth, the endorsement would be terminated. As far as Dimarzio is concerned I'm sure it's not a big loss. It's not like Yngwie is going to change his basic tone after all these years. People will still be able to buy the pickups he uses even if his name is not attached to them.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was actually more of a result of Fender extending an offer to Yngwie to extend his sig line of gear into accessory items.. pickups etc..
For Fender worldwide, the Yngwie sig strat is their biggest selling signature piece of gear.

This could be cool, but, I really do like the Dimarzio YJM's.
Best neck pickup I have found so far.
