If the Black Crowes had Ritchie in their band, I'd listen to more Black Crowes.

That gay video is beyond gay, almost put me off watching the vid Ralph posted.
On Ralph's vid: The first thing I think is this guy is a great singer, he should audition for Velvet Revolver. I really like his vocals.
The solo I didn't think was all that impressive, and the song's boring.
I don't really see where the Vai connection comes in. I can't see Ritchie Kotzen coming up with something as insanely awesome as "Ya-Yo-Gak".

Solo was kinda wanky, but I give him a TON of credit if he played all of the instruments! I dig artists that can do that well; there aren't many of them. Really impressed by his vocals; kinda reminded me of Chris Cornell singing for the Black Crowes.

if anyone's familiar with 50's jazz then I'm sure you'll notice how Richie's solo is pretty exactly like a saxophone lead line from that era + some Armstrong trumpet licks and whatnot at the end of the solo"There is nothing more fearful than imagination without taste" - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Saw him live last week, club was packed and he absolutely smoked. He came back three times for encores!
Paying Dues was one of the songs that really stuck in memory afterwards.
Great times.
BTW, "Kotzen" in german means "(to) vomit", so the audience had great fun while chanting for encores.

I wouldnt say better . I recently been listening to Vai and he can play any style ,he's not labelled as 1 type. I like guys like Malmsteen and Loomis but Vai is multi dimensional.
Check out this vid ,not his best by far but he plays a lot of different things on 1 song. Gets cookin about 2 min mark.
