  • Queensryche gear used on The Warning?

I did a search both on JCF and online and had no luck.

Does anyone know what gear Wilton and Degarmo were using on The Warning, specifically the chorus pedal on "Take Hold of the Flame?"

Any and all help is appreciated.

    Thanks...

I have NO idea, but I just heard that song on my iPod tonight, and I'm COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY by the production on that song.

My best guitar for nailing early Queensryche is a Fusion Pro with the stock pickups (either a J50B or a J50BC). I've read somewhere tat they used SD 59 pickups, which makes sense compared to what I'm using.

For the rest of the rig, either my Marshall Micro Stack (1980's) or the DSL100. I'm not too concerned on the chorus, just any will do for me. I'm mostly concerned about getting that smooth distortion.

Id guess the opening of that song they probably used a roland jc120 amp for the clean parts.
Its a complete catastrophe. But Im a professional, I can rise above it. LOL

I have a 'Live in Tokyo' version of this song and love it. They had great tones for the whole show.

I don't know why it rings a bell, but I remember something about them having been long-time Peavey amp users... Dunno...

The production was especially good on that album...I think they were given the carte blanche for the recording budget on that one.

Best QR album IMO....Strongest songs and best vocals.

The only down side (again IMO) with it was the guitar tone...and the lack of passion/feel in the guitar solos...But I don't think there has ever been a QR solo that really gets me anyhow...

ps...I never would have guessed Marshall 800's...They must have realy polished it up.

Just to clarify, is that an educated guess or fact?

                  Either way, thanks.

On a side note, about 3 years ago QR was touring with Dream Theater and for an encore both bands played together on stage. One of the songs they did was Take Hold The Flame. It was awesome watching Tate and and Labrie hit that high opening note on vocals together
BTW, in my cover band we used to do that song as well. Eventually we replaced it with Jet City Woman and I Don't Believe in Love. I've seen QR live 3 times and I wish Chris Degarmo was still touring with them. Great musicianship every time I've seen them!
