About damn time this got some responses. Actually, Friedman uses Pentatonics quite a lot, especially in his melodies. He just plays them more unorthodox as opposed to a blues sounding route.

I said STICKS to pentatonics, not USES. Of course he uses them, but he often diverts off into different scales just to make the solos more melodicly interesting.
