  • Nuno joins Rihanna

Not sure if anyone's heard this, but Nuno is the new lead guitarist in Rihanna's touring band. I saw him on SNL with Rihanna last week. What grabbed my attention was that the opening riff sounded too good for your average pop song. That got me to look more closely and I noticed Mr. Bettencourt standing there He played his signature N4 on the first song and a silver sparkle single-cut stoptail?? on the second song. Some subsequent googling has revealed that he has officially joined the tour, but Extreme is only on temporary hold................

    Yep

I haven't seen that SNL video but I heard about it. I bet he'll be making some good money again.

Rihanna just wants a sweet Portuguese guy around after some douche with baby moustache thought that romance involves using fists

And people laugh at Marty Friedman for "wasting" his talent.

            Thats embarrasing. Nuno who??
Maybe Washburn forced him. It can't possibly be a decision he made freely on his own.

I was watching SNL last week and quite easily spotted him as the camera was on him early on. Actually, I 1st recognized his sig guitar 1st and thought to myself, that dude is playing a Nuno sig guitar...then I figured out, hey, that dude IS Nuno! He also had his sig amp next to him, which I now see the logo matches his arm tattoo. As far as the music, not my cup o tea. She is talented though and I assume it's a well-paying gig.

Looks like a good move for Nuno. I can't think of a better way to help finance personal projects (like Extreme perhaps) than by using his talents to make a good buck when the opportunity arises. That's what musicians do. Greg Howe played w/ Nsync and Enrique Iglesias; Andy Timmons played with Olivia Newton John,... etc,etc.... Nothing worng with using your talents to make a living...

You may not like Pop or Rihanna, but she is really very good at what she does. I think this gives some much needed respect to shredders in the Business. Shredding and soloing are not poular in todays music. maybe we'll see things change if we see more of this. I think its a good move for him. Lets face it. He'll get more exposer with her than with Extreme and make some decent coin. Plus, he'll always have Extreme. I can't see any reason why he wouldn't do it. Because it's not hard rock? Does this make him less of a talant? Not at all IMHO. I hate country music with a passion, but Brad Paisley is an amazing player. Lets say he went on tour with the Foo Fighters. I think it would be amazing. I think crossing genres is good for music. Check out the newish Loretta Lynn song featuring Jack White. It's pretty cool. I realize that Nunos is just touring with Rihanna, but still. Slash played with Micheal Jackson and so did Eddie.

How about Warren DeMartini touring with Lady Gaga? George Lynch on tour with Kings of Leon? Buckethead with Taylor Swift? I'd go see it.

I'd like to see Billy Milano do a duet with Rihanna.

I saw this on one of the early morning shows (GMA, or one of the others, I can't remember). Rihanna was wearing a white dress that just barely covered the zone, pretty hot IMO. The songs weren't too bad either. Given the choices we have these days, I'd take this over Miley.

I am not a Rihanna fan, but I think it's great that he's playing with her. I'm glad he's sharing his talent, in whatever musical genre he chooses.
