Well, he DOES have a wonderful complexion...:ROTF:

EVH didn't join Michael Jackson because his own band was doing pretty well at the time too. Can't really say the same for Nuno and Extreme. But I get what you're saying, John, would have been a lot of ridicule for Nuno doing that in the 80s.

But it's 2010 now, a whole different world, and the light bill's gotta be paid... I wonder if Nuno is gettin' him some of that Rihanna booty? That might be a inducement...

Nuno is a very talented guitarist, and he can at least add some rock sensibility to Rihanna's songs.
This said, she has behind her - figuratively speaking, heh - some of the most talented pros in the business. Producers, sound engineers, programmers etc....
Making mega-selling hits is both a science and an art, and it requires much more talent, dedication, technical expertise and musical taste than most highly revered guitar gods could ever dream of possessing.

This Nuno dude however might actually be in need of cash: check out the bay, he's selling many of his actual guitars, for big $$ too...

I don't like what her names music. Don't care anything about it. I am not going to begrudge someone else from playing it and enjoying it and making a pay day out of it.

He may actually get along with the other musicians in the band, and that can go a long way despite the genre of music.

I mean come on if EVH can play a solo for MJ and still be considered a legend then cut Nuno a little slack.

And here's the kicker, he's probably have fun.

Besides, did you ever watch any Extreme videos? Nuno just moved from one chick to another hotter one (lol)

I am not begrudging him for doing it.. I just think he is lucky its not the early to mid 80's . Imagine if Joe Perry joined Lionel Richie's band when he left Aerosmith?
He would have had to give up guitar and start playing the kazoo.

    +1
I personally don't know anybody who thought this was cool, but they certainly did not lose all credibility or something like that. Except anthrax who had no credibility to begin with.

Nuno already did a song with that one Jackson-woman, whose name escapes me at the moment (the one with the boob). Then I remember reading a Jason Becker interview back in the 80s where he said he'd love to play with Paula Abdul (!!!!) or something like that. Marty Friedman has already been mentioned, as well as Greg Howe.

I always thought of these jobs as the best ones you could possibly get. Standing in a corner, looking cool, playing easy things and getting serious money for it. Sounds about perfect to me. But it gets even better: gigantic venues, top of the line equpiment, lots of staff, expensive hotels. It would be worth doing this simply for the experience!

Thanks, E! Didn't mean to set anybody off. I always forget about the emoticon when I'm being sarcastic.

I am talking about the days when there were 2 types of clubs. Rock clubs and disco's. Metal dudes didn't go to disco's. Guido's didn't go to metal clubs. We all thought Madonna was hot but none of us wanted to be in her band.
Except Marty Friedman! He had an audition for her a week after the Megadeth Audition.

Wow, did people tend to wear white sheets alot back in those olden days? I mean, of course apart from the Guidos?............

Really? SRV with Bowie cost him credit? Greg Howe with MJ isn't cool?
I gotta tell ya, if that kind of gig loses you street cred, sign me up!

And BTW, how can you "crucify" a guy for doing a gig! It's his JOB!!!!! Have you liked every job you've ever had? You can't always have the coolest gig, record the best record, or make the most money. Good, bad or indifferent, that's just the way it is! Folks, we're just playing MUSIC. That's it! There are only two kinds, the kind you like and the kind you don't. If you dig it FINE, if not FINE! There's no reason to be a jerk about it. When I was seventeen, I probably would have reacted the same way most of you are right now. Fellas, it's not 1991. You should all now be eighteen years older, smarter, and more mature. It really shouldn't be a big deal.

I hate to be like this on my inaugural run but, I'll be willing to bet that the guys that are doing the true bashing here have never solely depended on the guitar for their living. If you had, you'd understand. I do play guitar for a living. I want a T-shirt that says,"You payin'? I'm playin'!" I've had GREAT gigs that I LOVE and thought were REALLY cool! And, I have gigs that were awful and didn't tell anyone I was doing. But, those same gigs paid for my car, house, food, clothes, gear, etc... Get the picture? Be happy for a fellow guitar player! He's WORKING!!!!!
dude, dg's post was sarcastic
