  • Judas Priest - Grammy

Congrats to Rob and the rest of the Judas Priest machine, winning the Best Metal Performance grammy for a live version of a song they released in 1977, Dissident Agressor.

Too bad they didn't perform, would have kicked ass over that unmemorable Bon Jovi performance.

on that note, I think Bon Jovi is or was capable of being a great live band, but man they sure can suck. I mean they really can blow goats if they want to. too bad.

Were they even on the program? I didn't know if they would even have a metal category so I turned it off.

What was with Slash playing the solo to November Rain during that Jamie Fox comedy routine?

No metal on the live show, just part of the pre-awards I think.

I did catch that Slash solo for November Rain and was thinking WTF, how does this fit in here? I don't think Fox intended it as a comedy routine, thought he was trying to seriously sing?

They probably stuck it in the pre show ceremony because the metal catagory has been such a farce from it's inception. But then, Taylor Swift won 4 grammys which tells me they don't really care about injustice.

I just found out, AC/DC got one too.. nice! Congrats to both bands.

I haven't watched the Grammys in many years. I heard Slayer won two years ago for something, and last year they won for the song Final Six off of Christ Illusion. My CD doesn't have that song! Who reissues a CD within a year of it coming out?!?

Really? I guess that's why I didn't laugh. Was there singing?

VH1C aired Flight 666 in the same timeslot.

I'm glad Priest won, but why were they nominated for Dissident Agressor?

I don't really know, not having watched, but I'd guess that since they won for a live performance of an old song, that it was probably for Best Live Performance, Hard Rock/Heavy Metal.

Well, I didn't watch the Grammys, but I've seen Flight 666 several times on VH1C so I didn't watch that either. It's been running for months from time to time.

I should have seen it by now but I'm on the road too much, and F'ing hotels don't have VH1C.

I read that 100 out of the 109 total Grammies were handed out during the pre-telecast ceremony. Why even bother with the telecast, in that case? The Grammys have always been a sleazy joke (like the industry they represent), and nothing has changed.

Bon Jovi is a total bore as a roots rock/country band, I have to say. They need to rediscover their inner hair-band personalities.
