I like the stage image he ass. Hell you guys didn't complain when Anvil came on stage in bondage and ran across stage with dildo's, but you won't let the genius look and play like one. I like he's stage presence more than Yngwie. Malmsteen boast some good licks too, but he displays in a tired out ''you want me way''. Maybe that was cool when he was young and fit, but now he's old, overweight and in tight leather clothing no less.

I don't mind the rock faces Vai makes. I love his music for the most part, his legato is devastating. But the fucking fan blowing his hair back like a Poison video needs to go. If you need the breeze to stay cool, turn the speed down and toss some dry ice in front of it.

As far as Yngwie, his stage moves are over the top but I understand that he is trying to emulate his guitar heros. Everything he does he cribbed from Hendrix and Blackmore. Not bad guys to rip if you can pull it off.

Thin, fat... Who gives a fuck, his talent level rapes 98% of the guitar players out there. And no matter how fat he got it never stopped him from ripping for 45+ minute sets.

While he has a tendency to repeat himself the first Rising Force album was a landmark in guitar-centric music. I can still remember lying on my bed with my walkman cranked listening to it and not understanding how anybody could humanly play that fast and clean.

Dont get me wrong..i love Vai ! He is hands down the best guitar showman ever! I just was referring to the guys who constantly say
stuff about his persed lips and stuff he does with his face. Doesnt bother
me. My favorite DVD is "Live at the Astoria, London 2002!

            Eh.
I think tony plays twice a well.
There's genius, and then there's hype.

Not to start a fight or anything... hehe

Vai is one of the few who keeps the 80's alive. What's the fun going to a show where the performer looks like some dork next door?

I saw Vai live several years ago, I dunno, mid 90's? Basically had only seen him with Zappa and in The DLR videos (and was like, "WTF happened to him?") and I didn't think his stage show was overdone in the slightest. :dunno:

Also, the guy flat out rocked. I was about 20 feet from him the whole time and I thought he was very impressive, great technique of course but also really great feel, which, I dunno, maybe the stupid faces help with that.

Check out Vai's "Where the wild things are" Dvd that just came out, it has all the facial expressions, fan usage and stage antics any Vai fan could ever ask for! lol. And the guitar playing is way over the top.

They just broadcast it on Palladia. Vai was in rare form. Between him singing and his crack about his very hot violin player (I stole her from Jethro Tull) all around good fun.

Vai is on fire on that one. I just cannot comprehend that sort of mastery at all. Fuggums.
