The fan isn't just to look cool, he hates having his hair in his face. The fan helps. He commented on the WTWTA disc that the fan wasn't working to his liking at that show. Some of his stage antics are silly considering most of his audience are guitar players and they know it's the flip of the sustainer switch and not his tongue making that sound. Still, my Vai DVD's and the new blu-ray get played more than anything else.
