A band that had a dazzling "light show" without question.
Still to this day the only other band the equaled their light show,
was Deep Purples reunion show/tour. Stunning light show too.

      Rick/Rik?
A guitar player song writer that was underrated.
I still listen to them often, why?
Good players and good writers never go out of style regardless of the musical genre.
Rick/Triumph is one among many that proves this.
Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...

"Anyone who tries to fling crap my way better have a really good crap flinger."

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

Yes, there's a bee in the pudding.

Hell yeah, Triumph kicks ass. I've been a big Emmett fan for years. Very versatile player and he had some killer pipes back in the day. If it wasn't for him, I'd have never gotten hooked on the Yamaha RGX guitars. I hafta agree that the drummer and most of the songs he sings aren't as good as the Emmett songs.
I'm not afraid to bleed, but I won't do it for you.

Big fan here too, Allied Forces is still one of my all-time favourite albums, some immensely tasteful guitar playing.

They re-united for a couple of dates in 2008:
Triumph performing "Never Surrender" at Rocklahoma, Pryor, Oklahoma July 11, 2008.

Wasn't there meant to be a follow-up tour last year or something? Given the size of their 80s tours, I guess they'd be looking to play large venues but probably couldn't fill them as they've been away so long? Never seen them, think they only played in the UK a few times.

Most people seem to remember them for Allied Forces, Never Surrender, Thunder Seven, and maybe "Lay it on the line" and "Hold On" off of Just a Game.

If you haven't heard the (Rock and Roll Machine) album check it out.
"Blinding Light Show", "Street fighter", and the title track are excellent. Actually the whole album is great. Classic rock with some Metal, Blues, Jazz, and Classical influences.

Also the (Progressions of Power) album is definitely worth a listen.
                "I Live for the Weekend"
                "Nature's Child"
                "Tear the Roof Off"
                "I Can Survive"

Rock & Roll Machine is byfar the Best album Triumph ever put out!!
Just love all the tracks you mentioned, "Just A Game" was a good album as well with "Lay it on the Line" but a lot of the songs were pretty mellow, like "Suit Case Blues" etc.
Rik Emmett is one of the most underated Guitarist AND Singers in hard rock!!!

I always wanted Rik's white and gold Dean V from the US Festival. That was a killer guitar. Of course, he's a killer player, too. It's just not fair that he can both play and sing like that.

Triumph was awesome live. I saw them several times. The last time I saw them, I don't remember when it was but Krokus opened for them promoting their Headhunter album so it's been a long time. They literally brought the house down.
When I first heard about them, I was in high school and a friend of mine loaned me Rock and Roll machine and said "Check this out. This is the band that going to replace Rush." lol Actually, in my eyes, they pretty much did.
                    Favorite tracks:
                    Blinding light show
                    Rock and roll machine
                    Lay it on the line
                    I live for the weekend
Magic Power (Kinda Styx-ish, but a cool song)

I saw them when Malmsteen opened for them, 87 I beleive, and they totally rocked!!

One thing I have to say that I don't like and that is the fact that everytime I see them live, they always add some crap to lay it on the line that jsut doesn't seem to fit and messes up one of my otherwise favorite Trimuph songs

Here's a live version from 83 where they added something different just before the solo. So I guess it's tradition for them to screw around with it!

BTW, The dude's got some pipes!
I'm used to the "live" vid they play on VH1, which kicks with an a doubleneck!

2 things stand out on this one: The dude's bee gee outfit and the bassist straight outta Spinal tap!

Yea, that part at 2:45 just irks me!! I loved the original solo, it seemed like it was tasetfully structured and he just wonders way away from it all together it seems

I love the video on Vh1 classic also, but over the last 2 years or so, it ALWAYS comes in in the middle of it for some reason.

I guess by 87, they had gotten more back to the original

Glad you liked that It was definately a better version than what they played at the US festival!

Just out of curiosity, when did they start using that extra dude on guitar? I remember seeing him when I saw them in 87 and wondering who the hell that was.
