        I'll second these bands:

        Pagan's Mind and Circus Maximus

And thanks to everyone for the other ideas... I will check some for sure.

If you want to listen to satanic bees stinging you under the skull, check out Portal...

Taken from the album Swarth, out on 20th October.

It's certainly not for me, but I can say they sound like nothing else out there...

Yup. I have all Amon Amarth's albums. Just took that band out of my Ipod cause I'm tired of listening to them. Coming to think of it, now I remember. My cd booklet with over 200 cd's was stolen in 2008. I had a lot of atmospheric & symphonic black metal and the like on it which I miss now. Limbonic art, the summoning, Ulver, Bathory, etc.

                I have Ensiferum's self-titled album. They're pretty good.

You guys should give a listen to Beyond twilight. The album Section X is simply out of this world. Its got all the weird timing shit going on and some might not even like it the first time you listen to it. Also, check out Ark's Burn the Sun.

ok, Circus Maximus puts me to sleep. I listened to their 'Isolate' album. Its almost like Arena. But Arena has lots of pink floyd type atmosphere going on and keeps it interesting. Anyone listened to Threshold? Now, that's a great band. but all their songs sound almost alike.

Communic has too simple riffs. The first song on 'Payment of Existence' has exactly the sort of riffs I play while warming up! Can't believe someone made a song out of those. I'm not claiming to be a great guitarist and I am not! Just that I'm looking for better riffs for new ideas.

DarkSaga recommended me Scar Symmetry a while ago and I did give them a listen. I have a couple of songs but not a big fan of the style. not sure why.

I'm listening to Turisas and its like Folk metal like Amorphis. I definitely wouldn't classify it as Viking metal.

I'm listening to EyeFear and that seems pretty good. Deep sounding rhythm guitars and great vocals!

It's all metal to me. I can't keep these subgenres straight. Is it dark epic extreme black metal, or norwegian symphonic black metal?

                        How about Arcturus?
