Not my cup of tea. I can't stand his tone. He's obviously talented, but he's underrated for a reason. It just doesn't resonate with everybody :S. Shawn Lane however, died before his time. He's a really amazing player and i like that he was more than just a shredder. Late in his career is when i find he sounded best. He was expressing feelings through his guitar that would sound just divine. I know not everyone agrees, but still. Man did he get fat though :S. about 2:10s in sounds really cool. It's not really a song, but i just love the quality and dream like feel to it. He plays so fluid like, just seems to flow on forever. No distortion here either.

Man, Uli is great. I've been working on his solo (after the intro) in Sails of Charon for a while now. His picking seem to be quite special--every note is clear and distinct. I also find it quite impressive how he can do all that legato stuff without much gain. He certainly was way ahead of his time.

This is only a small tidbit of Uli's abilities. He is one of the all-time greats. One of the posters on youtube summed it up quite well.....

I have tried, and tried and tried to dig his stuff, but I just cant. Its all just gabalygoop to me. I have friends that just worship him, and for the life of me I cant figure out why. I try and try, but I just dont see it. Uli is the guitar equivalent of Neil Peart...... a bunch of people just rave about him and bow everyday to whatever city he is currently in seraching for those hip clothes he wears, and the rest of us just sit here scratching our heads bewlidered with their devotion to his music.

And BTW, Eddie invented Uli John Roth.

To name a single person as my GREATEST ever is simply a recipe in insanity for me. Is it the person who got me started? Tony Iommi? The ones who took it up a couple of notches; Mustaine, Hetfiled, Dimebag. Or the ones who brought me back? Jim Root/Mick Thompson, others? Futility in my opinion...Peace.

Yeah i think it was Cortisone. It's a common anti-inflammatory prescription. Though, it's a type of steroid and will cause an array of side-effects, including weight gain. Unlike anabolics though, mass retained is mostly fat. My mother had to take some for a herniated disk. She gained about 20 pounds in 3 months. She went off of it and is on other medication. Less effective, but I'd rather be in a bit of pain than risk obesity.
