  • Just Back from Overkill in NYC

Despite carbombs and Polish metal - I made it through alive. Blitz and the boys put on a kickass show. Intense fucking metal! Loved it!

Got there in time to see Warbringer (OK), God Dethroned (not bad) and Vader (eh...). Lots of Jackson action with the openers - soloists, kellys, some bass with a pickguard (who cares - its a bass!).

Overkill kicked major ass and played my favorite song - their cover of Sonic Reducer.

Am now watching coverage about the car bomb that was about 1/2 a block away from the concert. Crazy ass fuckers.

Warbringer had the crowd fucking moving--I got their drummer's stick after their set, and I was lucky enough to be right where the guitarist jumped onto the floor and was on the barrier opposite the crowd-epic shit. Met John later after the God Dethroned set by the merch stands..

Evile had a great fucking set too, but 5 songs was too short IMO...I met Ben and Ol at the merch stand, I got a signed copy of both Evile albums now. The greatest shit was seeing Ben in the crowd for Overkill-that dude is friendly like anything. Great guys, him and Ol.

Overkill's set was just great, the lights and smoke were well done. Bobby is just a great front man, and they're just a great live band. The whole concert was amazing. The only thing was I felt God Dethroned got the short end of the stick, following Warbringer on the bill. So many people sat through their set, then Vader had some of that too but not as much. I liked the opener too, they weren't that bad. My friend had his shirt ripped in the pit we started for them though, it was pretty funny.

Man, I was so looking forward to this show, but had to bail to attend a funeral. Overkill's a major fave of mine. They've have so many facets of sound thru the years as the guitarists changed, but it's all metal, no doubt about it! Did they play anything off Horrorscope or The Years of Decay (outside of elimination)?

I went, too. It was such an awesome show! Elimination, of course, was played. Off of Horroscope, they played Bare Bones and Coma!

I watched that coverage tonight, too. A friend of mine texted me about a car bomb in Times Square, and I was like holy shit, I was there! I thought it was odd when the PA announced at the end of the show to let cops know if there was any info about the car fire right outside. I ate at Mars 2112 and then walked to Nokia and must have got inside right before it happened.

Yeah I didn't roll in until like 7:30 or so, so 45th was blocked off, but 44th was still open.

            Feel the Fire
            Iron Bound
            Coma
            Bare Bones
            Gasoline Dream
            Overkill
            Bring me the Night
            Elimination

            -Encore

Did Blitz mention they were gonna do a live DVD of this show? I'm sick of watching crap cellphone vids on youtube. I want the same quality as Wrecking Everything.

No he didn't say anything like that on stage.

BTW - WTF with all the people cell phone videoing concerts? Ridiculous. They spend the whole night staring at the screen of the cell phone. Enjoy the fucking concert, you asswipes.

Gasoline Dream and Feel The Fire were a real treat! I'm surprised they didn't do anything from I Hear Black or Killbox 13.

There was one kid up front, on his phone the whole time, not even videotaping, fucking texting. I wanted to smack the phone outta his hands and tell him to look at the guys on stage, but being a metalhead at a concert I had a better way to vent my feelings \m/
