Nevermore has it's moments and I believe this is one of 'em. I like the album, but I'm not a Loomis nutswinger...so what do I know. LOL

Warrel does have a unique singing style. Try some of their older albums before giving up on the band.

Months have gone by...and I have to retract my statement on this album..

It hasn't stood the test of time for me. I find myself often frustrated that the heavy ass riffs don't play out and are followed up immediately by some poppy riff that just doesn't really make me want to mosh the fuck out of the song..

I think Sneap just did the guitars on this album the rest was that Pete Wichers guy from Soilwork.

I normally let him go, but I think because the vocals are so much in front of the mix on this album that it just took my interest away. Maybe it's time to find a new producer and let Mr. Sneap move on?

Yeah he definitely has his "favorite words" list that he likes to pull out. Other words on the list would be poison, god, yearning, calling, throne and a few more that escape me at the moment..

It's not my favorite Nevermore disc for sure, but it's still a good album. To be honest I think they conciously went in a more commercial direction on this one while still trying to keep it heavy. It worked for sales, giving them their highest opening charting yet, but it can backfire when people want to keep the band to themselves.
The 100th time Warrel says "system slave", it starts getting old. Maybe cheesy was the wrong word. Maybe tired?

After listening to this album for a while, I have to say I'm disappointed. Lyrics are total cheese and nothing in the guitar really stands out. I don't blame them though; it would be tough to follow up Godless Endeavor, and Loomis used up his great ideas on his solo album (which I really enjoy). Oh well, after Neon Black, Dead Heart, Enemies, and Godless, I don't think they have anything to prove.

Love the production, great tones, don't really care for the songs and songwriting in general. As much as I want to like this cd, the more I listen to it the more it feels like NM don't actually have much to say.
    I totally agree.
